Through 2012, Museum De Paviljoens programmes under the general title The Dutch Identity?. 31 October 2010 sees the opening of the second exhibition in the series, featuring installations and video works by Moniek Toebosch (Breda, 1948), Alicia Framis (Barcelona, 1967), Gabriel Lester (Amsterdam, 1972) and Jennifer Tee (Arnhem, 1973). Each selection within The Dutch Identity? offers a specific perspective on contemporary Dutch art and the social, cultural and geographical setting in which this art has its origins.

1 December 2010, 20.00 hrs.
Lecture by Nikos Papastergiadis, Professor Cultural Studies and Media & Communications at The University of Melbourne and the author of, amongst other works, Spatial Aesthetics: Art, Place and the Everyday (2006) and Dialogues in the Diasporas: Essays and Conversations on Cultural Identity (1998). Followed by the book presentation of Local Myths / Love Spells (2010 by Jennifer Tee.

"In een serie groepstentoonstellingen doet Museum De Paviljoens in Almere een intelligente poging om de Nederlandse identiteit in kaart te brengen. * Alle vier kunstenaars trekken zich niets aan van (geografische) grenzen en werken in verschillende disciplines. Ze hebben over de hele wereld gewoond en Framis is zelfs niet in Nederland geboren. * Het 'et al' in de ondertitel van de tentoonstelling duidt volgens een toelichting van De Paviljoens niet alleen op het voorlopige karakter van de selectie, maar verwijst ook naar het hele (inter)nationale netwerk van museumdirecteuren, galeriehouders, curatoren, critici en academies. Samen dragen zij bij aan het "culturele klimaat waarbinnen kunst kan ontstaan."
