Panoramic of the city
Marin Kasimir, Dag Almere (2001)
His camera turns around its axis 360 or 820 degrees. With this extraordinary camera, Marin Kasimir has taken photographs in many places around the world.
In 2000, he made a photographic impression of the city of Almere that was commissioned by Museum De Paviljoens. His photographs form a beautiful document within the visual historiography of the rapidly changing city of Almere. In Pavilion 5, light boxes with ectachromes gave an impression of the city, presenting categorically arranged images of industrial zones, junctions and residential areas. In addition, a small presentation spotlighted projects that Marin Kasimir realised within the public spaces of the Netherlands and abroad.
Marin Kasimir’s exhibition eventually gave rise to a commission by the City centre department of the Municipality of Almere for making a photo book about the city, which was given the title Dag Almere. The commissioned photographs were printed as small strips onto a larger photograph with the same title, Dag Almere (2001), and form part of De Collectie Almere.
