The Collection Almere: Latest Acquisition: the process of collecting

Through a variety of projects, Museum De Paviljoens gives visitors insight into its wide-ranging tasks and activities as a museum. In 2000, its repository was opened for the project IN VERZEKERDE BEWARING (In Custody). In 2003, another question was key: how does an art collection come into being and which factors contribute to that process?
To give insight into this process, in a period of four weeks an exhibition was set up in the full public gaze: LATEST ACQUISITION: the process of collecting. The walls of the museum halls were painted in three different colours, which accentuated the phases in the creation of a collection.
The exhibition also gave impetus for the development of an alternative collection catalogue. At the opening of the exhibition, the first series of Collection Cards, which together will form the collection catalogue, were presented to Mayor Jorritsma.
