People can only deal with the fantasy when they are ready for it. De Paviljoens 2001-2012
Troostbos is a special bunch of flowers: the hearts of the calyxes whisper comforting words. Hurray, the sun! The sun, the sun! Sound and the human voice often play important roles within the work by Moniek Toebosch. These are also included in for example the work Engelen/Angels FM, which she created for the dike between Enkhuizen and Lelystad. Drivers could tune in to the frequency of Engelen / Angels FM and could listen to the singing of angels, sung by Toebosch herself. ‘They who have heard a speech by Toebosch, know that she could magnetize her audience with her voice, choice of words, timing, and humor.’1
With her interdisciplinary approach, Toebosch influenced a younger generation of artists and theaterproducers: she worked at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam from 1996 until 2000 as a teacher, and from 2004 until 2008 as director of the institute DasArts, master degree for theater. In 2009 her publication Als zodanig niet herkenbaar. Is dat duidelijk? (As such non recognizable. Is that clear?), a quote with which she escaped classification since 1979. Moniek Toebosch passed away on November 24th, 2012. She was 64 years old.
