"When in 1994 the artwork of Bas Maters had just gotten its spot in the Paarlemoervijver, I thought it was a sunken boat; or actually that someone had put it there for a joke, because a boat cannot really sink as straight up as this. I found it strange that nobody took the boat away. My father told me that it was an artwork. I found it a bit strange at first, but now I really like it. It is something different than what you expect from an artwork… or a boat. That makes that you give it a second glance. I am curious what is sticking into the water! Or what is hiding beneath the surface!
Because of Het bootje (The little boat) the Paarlemoervijver is not just another pond, no longer something that you see every day. The festive yellow boat makes the whole pond special.”
Museum De Paviljoens will gladly offer you more information about this artwork and other works from De Collectie Almere via or 036-5450400.
