Atelier van Lieshout - Zonder titel (1994)

This week art ambassador Jamel Ben-Mansour, coordinator Housing Affairs for the town hall of Almere, talks about the pieces of furniture from Atelier van Lieshout that have recently received a spot in the reception area of the town hall's main reception room.

“I first saw these works on a photo and they didn't do that much for me, but when they were placed here by Museum De Paviljoens I was really impressed: that’s really something! They are striking and make the whole room appear different. The reception area was a bit boring and sombre at first, but that's no longer the case. The furniture pieces have not been here long, but they really are at home here!

The counter, the bookcase and the couch are used almost every day. During receptions, for example, coffee and tea are placed on the counter. They are artworks, but they also have a practical function. That makes them extra special.

As manager of the building, I'm very much involved with the art in the town hall. I keep an eye on it, I am the first point of contact and know what goes on there. I have started to appreciate the artwork more and more and not only due to my function. I also have begun to really enjoy it.”

Museum De Paviljoens will gladly offer you more information about this artwork and other works from De Collectie Almere via , 036-5450400.
