Armando - De Urn (2000)

De Urn (The Urn) by Armando gives me a lot of consolation,” says art ambassador Sia Schipper. She works as a nature guide at the Association for Environmental Education IVN.

“The sculpture fascinates me; on the one hand De Urn (The Urn) is very threatening and at the same time I find a lot of consolation in De Urn (The Urn). The artwork refers to the past and death. You see the large heavy urn rising against the sky. It is as if a connection is established between the loaded symbol, the urn, and the sky above. The urn reaches toward heaven.”

“The sculpture by the artist Armando connects the past with the present for me. De Urn (The Urn) therefore has a very positive side, especially because the artwork also involves the surrounding environment in a beautiful manner.”

"I think that De Urn (The Urn) sits on a splendid spot in the Kromslootpark. Exactly through the environment the sculpture gets an even stronger charge. The sculpture symbolises elevation, letting go of the earth.”
