Herman Makkink, Zonder titel (Untitled, 1988)

This sculpture was purchased after the advising committee visited Herman Makkinks studio. By request, the artists changed the work to its surroundings: the size has been enlarged.

The dyed concrete sculpture consists of a round wall with cast iron forms. The heads or arrowheads outreach the sculpture. Makkink wrote an occasional speech to accompany the purchase of the work:
“Like the lion from Zeeland elevates itself above the lanes and the city of Almere has pushed itself up from the bottom of the sea, the iron spirit of the concrete has wrestled itself away from the pressure of sealed grid. The spirit arises the matter and simultaneously the soul sinks in”.

The artwork Untitled by Herman Makkink (1937) is located at the Leegwaterpad in Waterwijk, Almere Stad
